Huehuetenango region is in the volcanic Northwest corner of Guatemala on the Mexican border. The coffee is allowed to grow at a very high elevation due to the fact the Mexican Mountain ranges prevent bad weather and frost from entering this region. This coffee is also a triple certified coffee; fair trade, organic, and shade grown. Most coffees from this region are grown from co-ops of small farms. Now the important thing - this coffee is AWESOME! It was chosen to be served at the 2005 United Nations Environment and Poverty Summit in NYC. It is exceptionally clean and vibrant with medium acidity, full body, and a delightful aroma. We roast it a Vienna Roast, which is on the darker side. We find that it really enhances the beans characteristics without compromising its delicate features.
